Leaders.

The NWR Speaks leadership team consist of students who are nominated by their teammates and selected by the coaching staff. Each of our emerging leaders has demonstrated the necessary skills to get things done. These leaders work closely with the coaching staff throughout the season to ensure that the team is successful in and out of the tournament setting.

James Tenney - Captain

The NWR Speaks Captain must be a member of the varsity squad, have a minimum of 100 NSDA points, demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of speech, debate, and interpretation events, uphold the values in the NSDA honor code, and earn the approval of all members of the coaching staff.

The NWR Speaks Captain presides over team leadership meetings; competes in a variety of events throughout the season; competes in every tournament the team attends, as qualified; assists with scheduling and planning rehearsals; coaches novice and varsity squad members during rehearsals; organizes entry information prior to tournament deadlines; accounts for all students at each transportation load-in; fields questions, comments, and concerns from varsity and novice squad members; and promotes a positive, growth-minded team atmosphere.

LaMonte Trevillion - Chief Officer

The NWR Speaks Chief Officer (CO) must be a member of the varsity squad, have a minimum of 75 NSDA points, demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of speech, debate, and interpretation events, uphold the values in the NSDA honor code, and earn the approval of all members of the coaching staff.

The NWR Speaks CO attends all team leadership meetings; competes in a variety of events throughout the season; competes in every tournament the team attends, as qualified; manages all team social media accounts; coordinates and communicates promotional photography opportunities at tournaments; assists the team's Captain during rehearsals; coaches novice and varsity squad members during rehearsals; and promotes a positive, growth-minded team atmosphere.

Taylor Mills - Advisor

The NWR Speaks Advisor must be a member of the varsity squad, have served in a team leadership role in at least one prior season, have a minimum of 150 NSDA points, uphold the values of the NSDA honor code, demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of speech, debate, and interpretation events; and earn the approval of all members of the coaching staff.

The NWR Speaks Advisor attends all team leadership meetings; keeps appropriate records of all team leadership meetings; competes in a variety of events throughout the season; competes in every tournament the team attends, as qualified; supports the Team Captain and Chief Officer by answering questions and addressing concerns; assists the coaching staff with coordinating schedules (rehearsal, audition, tournament, etc.); coaches novice and varsity squad members during rehearsals; and promotes a positive, growth-minded team atmosphere.

Damini Bedi - Tournament Director

The NWR Speaks Tournament Director must be a member of the varsity squad, have served in a team leadership role in at least one prior season, have a minimum of 100 NSDA points, uphold the values of the NSDA honor code, demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of speech, debate, and interpretation events, and earn the approval of all members of the coaching staff.

ttends appropriate team leadership meetings; competes in a variety of events throughout the season; competes in all tournaments the team attends, as qualified; works closely with the coaching staff to coordinate the complex elements of the NWR Speaks tournament; fields questions from and provides instruction to team members during the NWR Speaks tournament; helps the coaching staff coordinate food for the Student Lounge and the Judge Lounge; identifies and recommends team members for specific tournament duties; and promotes a positive, growth-minded team atmosphere.

Ethan Shields - Novice Representative

The NWR Speaks Novice Representative must be a member of the novice squad, demonstrate a natural capacity for leadership and clear camaraderie with other team members, uphold the values of the NSDA honor code, and earn the approval of a majority of the NWR Speaks members and all members of the NWR Speaks coaching staff.

The NWR Speaks Novice Representative attends all team leadership meetings; provides insight about the desires, concerns, and/or needs of the members of the novice squad; competes in a variety of events throughout the season; competes in all tournaments the team attends; and promotes a positive, growth-minded atmosphere.
